Building Institutional Platforms for Japan’s Next Generation of Private Equity Managers
A strategic platform partner for emerging and evolving GPs. From Ace to King. Domestic and global fund formation, operational institutionalization, and strategic GP development.
ABOUT US
Why AceK ?
For 14 years, I led global fund formation and fundraising at one of Japan’s established private equity firms. Over that time, I saw firsthand the growing interest in Japanese private equity among international investors. At the same time, the allocation from high-quality Japanese GPs remains limited, and I believe one of the factors behind this is the significant challenge of building an institutional-quality fund operating platform.
Successful private equity firms require far more than investment expertise. They require strong governance, robust operational infrastructure, effective investor communication, and organizational development.
I wanted to put my experience to work in supporting GPs who are taking on the challenge of launching and building their own funds. Together with my co-founder, I founded AceK based on the principles of integrity and trust that have guided me throughout my career.
We work alongside GPs, providing differentiated fund platform solutions and end-to-end support for fund formation and platform development.
From the beginning to the end of a fund’s journey, we support our GP partners every step of the way — from “Ace” to “King.”

ー What We Do
PE Fund Platform Establishment
We support Japanese PE managers launching new domestic or international funds by providing assistance in building the non-investment infrastructure required to establish institutional-quality fund platforms.
Our support covers fund formation readiness, operational infrastructure, governance, investor communication framework, and other essential elements required for successful fund management.
Global Fund Structuring Support
We assist GPs in designing and implementing fund structures that align with the expectations of both domestic and international institutional investors.
Working alongside GPs, we provide practical guidance and support in developing appropriate fund structures, including considerations around investor requirements, operational efficiency, and long-term scalability.

Mr. Shigemura has extensive experience in private equity, alternative investments, fund formation, and institutional investor relations with experience on both the GP and LP sides.
During his tenure at T Capital Partners, he played a leading role in launching the firm’s first global fundraising initiative for Fund 6 in 2021. He worked closely with institutional investors across Japan, the United States, Europe, and Asia, contributing to the successful closing of the fund amid strong demand from investors. He also led the establishment of the fund structure, operational framework, and LP relationship management processes, helping establish an institutional-quality platform to meet the expectations of global investors.

Prior to joining T Capital Partners, Mr. Shigemura spent many years in the investment division of Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, where he developed expertise across alternative investments. His experience included developing private equity mezzanine investment strategies in Japan, building global PE fund portfolios as an LP investor, managing hedge fund investments, and supporting strategic equity investment initiatives. He also gained experience in infrastructure investment through an infrastructure fund in Singapore and in project finance through a government-affiliated financial institution (JBIC).
